Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

154 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a cattle headage payment will be made to a person (details supplied); the reason for the delays; if all problems will be addressed; if an official from his Department will contact this person to resolve all problems; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25437/02]

The person named included a new plot of land on his 2002 area aid application, but had omitted to enclose a map of it.

Following contact by the area aid unit of my Department with the herdowner, he submitted a map confirming the boundaries and location of the plot in question. His 2002 area aid application has now been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 84.31 hectares.

The person named will be paid his full entitlement under the 2002 area-based compensatory allowance scheme shortly.

Payment of the ewe premium was made on 16 October and payment of the supplementary premium, which had been delayed pending clearance of the area aid, will be made shortly.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

155 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the 2001 extensification payment and the 2002 area based payment will issue to a person (details supplies) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25444/02]

The 2002 area aid application of the person named was originally processed with a forage area of 14.59 hectares. The application was later amended to include additional forage land that the herdowner had submitted on an amendment form. The revised area determined for payment purposes is 18.86 hectares.

He was paid €1381.50 based on an area of 14.59 hectares. The balance due on the additional area will be paid in January 2003. The person named participated in 2001 extensification premium opting for the census system and his application will be processed shortly.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

156 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan has not received suckler cow premium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25445/02]

The person named applied on one cow under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk suppliers on 5 June 2002. He holds a milk quota of 27,612 gallons and he declared on his application that he had a total of 30 dairy and suckler cows in his herd. The terms and conditions of the scheme provide that an applicant must have sufficient cows surplus to the cows needed to produce his quota and they also provide that the number of notional dairy cows needed to produce the milk quota is that quota divided by 876 gallons. As it takes 31.52 cows to fill the milk quota held by the person named he does not have sufficient cows to qualify for payment under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk suppliers.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

157 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when compensation payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork in relation to the de-population of their herd in 1998 owing to a brucellosis outbreak; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this person's tax clearance certificate has been submitted. [25446/02]

A tax clearance certificate was received on 15 November 2002. A number of outstanding issues relating to the determination of grant category and amount due in all the circumstances of the case are under active consideration by the district veterinary office. A decision is expected shortly which will be communicated to the person concerned.
