Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teaching Allowances.

Bernard Allen

Question:

218 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason teachers who have graduated with a Higher Diploma in Learning Support are not earning an allowance over and above the basic salary in view of the fact that an allowance is awarded for the Higher Diploma in Education; and if he will rectify this inequality. [25464/02]

Issues in relation to the payment of qualification allowances to teachers are appropriate for discussion at the Teachers' Conciliation Council. There are no plans to introduce such an allowance at present.
