268 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Corballa Vocational School, County Sligo, is used for the educational and training needs of persons with learning difficulties and special needs; that the annual rent has increased by 200% (details supplied), and that the tenants have carried out extensive refurbishment worth in the region of ?224,000, as the building was left idle for 40 years; if the rent will be reduced in view of the moneys spent, to improve the facilities and to enable the tenants to provide appropriate and adequate training; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The matter referred to by the Deputy has already been brought to the attention of my Department by the North West Parents and Friends Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability. My Department has referred the matter to the County Sligo Vocational Educational Committee for further consideration.
