Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

326 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason patients from Kilkenny have to attend Waterford Regional Hospital for dialysis; his plans to provide this service in St. Luke's, Kilkenny; if elderly patients can be accommodated in Kilkenny rather than having to travel to Waterford; and if the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be examined to determine if they can be treated locally rather than travel to Waterford. [25647/02]

The provision of hospital services for people living in County Kilkenny is a matter, in the first instance, for the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him.
