Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Question:

332 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will re-examine the reply given by the SEHB relating to an appointment being sought by a person (details supplied) in County Carlow for treatment at Cappagh Orthopaedic Hospital; the reason the routine waiting list is up to nine months; if an appointment for this person will be expedited as requested in view of the urgency of the case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25788/02]

I have been advised by the South-Eastern Health Board that the person referred to has been placed on the consultant's routine waiting list at Cappagh Orthopaedic Hospital. The Deputy will appreciate that the scheduling of admissions to hospitals is a matter for the relevant hospital concerned based on clinical priority.
