Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Code.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

94 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Finance if he has plans to review the exemption of income from stallion fees from taxation; if, in particular, he intends to review the arrangement as a result of which taxpayers are not required to even declare income from stallion fees; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25552/02]

The budget last week set out in some detail the view I came to in relation to the review of various tax reliefs and indicated the changes I proposed to make. As I said in my budget speech, I am a supporter of properly-focused, clearly-defined, specific reliefs but all tax reliefs must be subject to on-going review. That remains the position.
