Mary Wallace

Question:

138 Ms M. Wallace asked the Minister for Finance if the interim report promised by him to be available within a few days of 26 November 2002 has come to hand; the immediate measures which can be taken following the interim report, in particular with regard to the Tolka river at Clonee and the tributary, and the Castle river at Dunboyne; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25977/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 135 and 138 together.

As the Deputy will be aware, a major study of the river Tolka is currently under way and is being funded by the Office of Public Works. The report is expected to be complete in May 2003. In the meantime, an interim report has been prepared for Dublin City Council by the consultants and this is now being examined by officials from Dublin City Council and Office of Public Works. I understand that both Meath and Fingal County Councils have also requested interim reports on the parts of the Tolka in their respective areas and these are expected in the next two to three weeks.
