Vol. 559 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driver Tests.

Paul McGrath

Question:

174 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Transport his plans to address the issue of non-nationals, resident in the State, who wish to apply for a driving licence, but who are unable to take the theory portion necessary to apply for a provisional licence without the assistance of an interpreter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26035/02]

At present the driver theory test is available in Irish and English. The feasibility of providing additional facilities for persons who may not be competent in these languages is being considered with a view to their introduction early in 2003.
