Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Jackie Healy-Rae

Question:

191 Mr. Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the resource teacher in Lissivigeen National School, County Kerry, at present has to teach children beside the toilets in a cold draughty hall of the school with no storage space; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Question:

192 Mr. Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Education and Science the steps he intends to take to guarantee that the promised temporary accommodation for Lissivigeen, national school, County Kerry, is installed without delay to facilitate the staff and children of the school who are being taught in the parish centre some distance from the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26328/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 191 and 192 together.

Tenders for the provision of temporary accommodation at the school referred to by the Deputy are with my Department. A decision will be communicated to the board of management as soon as possible having regard to the funds available in 2003 for such projects. The board of management should use any funds available from their devolved grant to deal with any urgent health and safety issues at the school.
