Vol. 559 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

229 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science when his Department will issue tender authorisation to Gaelscoil Charman, Wexford Town; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26734/02]

Architectural planning for a new school building for Gaelscoil Charman has been completed.

I will be announcing my expenditure proposals for school buildings in the New Year. The Deputy and members of the public may monitor progress on major projects on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

In the meantime I am not in a position to say when individual projects will proceed to tender and to construction.

James Breen

Question:

230 Mr. J. Breen asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide funding for an extension to Rice College, Christian Brothers, New Road, Ennis, County Clare, in 2003. [26761/02]

Officials in the building unit of my Department are currently examining a stage 4/5 submission for an extension project at the school in question. When this examination is complete, and if in order, a decision will be taken regarding progressing this project to the next stage of architectural planning when all budgetary issues for 2003 have been finalised.
