Question:285 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of unapproved jobs in place in the health service on 4 December; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26604/02]

The annual health service personnel census relates to the end of December each year. The 2002 health service personnel census will therefore be taken over the latter half of this month. Following budget day announcements all employment disclosed by the 2001 census outturn, net of home helps currently excluded by agreement from the approved employment ceiling, is included within the current authorised employment level for the health service.
