Vol. 559 No. 5

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

Dan Boyle

Question:

349 Mr. Boyle asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a decision will be forthcoming on a citizenship application by persons (details supplied). [26541/02]

Applications for certificates of naturalisation from the people concerned were received in my Department on 7 December 2001.

Such applications are generally dealt with in chronological order as this method is deemed to be the fairest to all applicants. The average processing time of such applications is approximately 15 months at present and it is, therefore, likely that the applications referred to by the Deputy will be finalised early in 2003.

As soon as I have reached a decision on the matter, both the applicant and the Deputy will be informed.
