351 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the next class of gardaí will commence training; the number in the proposed class; if the class has been notified of their commencement dates; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26571/02]
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the next class of trainee gardaí will commence training on 27 January 2003. It is proposed to have approximately 167 trainees in the class. I am also informed that successful candidates for the position as Garda trainee in the above class are being informed by letter. A number of the candidates have already been informed.
