Vol. 559 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul McGrath

Question:

126 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of a suckler premium. [26561/02]

The person named applied on 56 animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme. Payment of the 80% advance, amounting to €10,023.98, has now issued to him in respect of 55.9 animals, which is his suckler cow quota limit.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

127 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will re-examine an application under the 2001 extensification premium scheme by a person (details supplied) in County Cork; if this person's livestock units will be recalculated; and the reason this farm was not inspected. [26573/02]

The person named participated in the 2001 extensification premium opting for the census system. Based on his own declarations the person named had a stocking density of 1.9941 livestock units per hectare. This would appear to qualify him for extensification premium at the low rate of payment. However, the Department is required to check applicants' declarations at census dates against the CMMS database to ensure that the declarations and the database are in agreement. The outcome of this cross-check in the case of the person named has shown a discrepancy involving five animals. When these five animals are taken into account the stocking density of the person named is in excess of two livestock units per hectare.

The person named claims that five calves died on his holding during 2001. The deaths of three of these calves were not notified to the CMMS database as required and while the deaths of the remaining two calves were notified to the database, their births were not.

Forms to enable the person named to rectify the database registration position were issued to him on 6 December 2002. When the position has been rectified the application of the person named will be processed further and if found in order payment will issue without delay.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

128 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the 2002 suckler cow grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26583/02]

The person named applied on 20 animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme. Payment of the 80% advance in respect of these animals will issue to him shortly.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

129 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an area based payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26584/02]

The person named included a plot of land on his 2002 area aid application on which an over-claim was determined. The area aid unit contacted the herdowner to clarify the correct parcel boundaries. The person named sent in maps showing the correct boundaries. They have now been entered on the Department's electronic database. The 2002 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 23.47 hectares. The person named will be paid his full entitlement under the 2002 area-based compensatory allowance scheme as soon as possible.

John Deasy

Question:

130 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will consider extending the terms of the alternative enterprise scheme to include the provision of a covered all-weather training area which would not alter the amount of grant aid provided but which would allow greater scope within the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26661/02]

As I previously indicated in my reply to a parliamentary question on 26 November 2002, I have no plans at present to revise the types of investment items eligible for grant aid under the alternative enterprise scheme.
