Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Task Force Report.

Jerry Cowley

Question:

317 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the details of the interdepartmental working group established to examine the recommendations in the task force report; the proposals it has submitted; and when the Government will respond to these proposals. [2031/03]

The Government established an interdepartmental working group last October to examine the recommendations of the task force on policy regarding emigrants with a view to submitting proposals to Government for future action. The working group, which included representatives of the Departments of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Social and Family Affairs, the Environment and Local Government, Communications, Marine and Natural Resources and Health and Children, held a number of meetings in October and November last year. The report of the working group has not yet been finalised.

I will consider the submission of proposals to Government in due course, in light of the resources that can be made available to implement the recommendations of the task force.
