Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Michael Ring

Question:

381 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if the dispute has been resolved between Mayo VEC and a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who was being paid but not teaching; if this teacher has resumed teaching; if this person is working with the VEC; and if not, if this dispute has been settled. [1405/03]

It is a matter for a vocational education committee, as the responsible statutory authority and employer, to ensure that its teaching staff are timetabled and deployed in accordance with the needs of its scheme.

With regard to the specific case referred to by the Deputy, I understand that the teacher in question has been deployed to alternative duties within its scheme by the VEC concerned.
