Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Incremental Credits.

John McGuinness

Question:

391 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress in relation to Question No. 200 of 15 October 2002; if his Department made contact with the persons referred to in same, as suggested by his Department in the reply; if the ongoing discussions on the guidelines for incremental credits have concluded; if so, the outcome; if not, if he will draw the discussions to a conclusion and finalise the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1415/03]

I understand that an investigation carried out by my Department in relation to the issue raised by the Deputy has been unable to identify any formal applications for incremental credits from the two persons in question. Discussions regarding incremental credits for special needs assistants have not yet been concluded in my Department. Every effort is being made to advance this matter as speedily as possible.

Any formal applications for incremental credits received from the persons in question will be considered in the light of the outcome of the discussions currently taking place.
