Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

418 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the stage at which the development plan stands in respect of the provision of facilities at Sallins primary school, County Kildare; the next stage and remaining stages in the process; the timescale likely for completion; if adequate funds are available to advance the project in 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1474/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website, www.education.ie. The project at Sallins national school is at an advanced stage of architectural planning. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include it in the new projects to start construction in 2003. The project will be considered again in the context of the 2004 capital programme.

419 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education and Science when work will commence on the science laboratory and the home economics room for the vocational school, Tuam, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1475/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website, www.education.ie. It was not possible to include this project in the new projects to start construction in 2003. This project will be considered further in the context of the 2004 capital programme.

Phil Hogan

Question:

420 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education and Science when a new science facility and upgraded woodwork and construction room in Duiske College, Graignamanagh, County Kilkenny, will be provided and funded by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1575/03]

The 2003 capital programme has been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website, www.education.ie. The project to which the Deputy refers is at an advanced stage of architectural planning – pre-tender stage. The timing of this project's progress to tender and construction is dependent on the funding allocation in 2004 and subsequent years.
