Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Richard Bruton

Question:

478 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if approval has been given for the funding needed to develop a specialist centre for the education and support of visually impaired at St. Joseph's School for the Blind, Gracepark Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9; and when it is proposed to commence work on the new facilities involved. [1907/03]

A project team appointed to develop a master plan for the centre in question presented its interim report to my Department in December 2002.

The project team's report, which is both technical and detailed, is currently being examined by my Department in consultation with the Department of Health and Children. Final decisions in relation to the proposed project will be taken on the basis of the outcome of this examination.
