Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

501 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the extent of further requirements in terms of accommodation, staff and other facilities at the Salesian College, Celbridge, County Kildare; if his Department has been in contact with the college authorities with a view to identification of the most effective and expeditious way to proceed; if it is his intention to respond favourably to existing or further requests in 2003, if adequate funding has been provided for such eventualities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1931/03]

The Salesian College, Celbridge, has submitted an application for extension and refurbishment. The 2003 capital programme has been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. This project is not yet in architectural planning and my Department does not intend to put further large-scale projects into architectural planning during 2003. The timing as to when this project may proceed is dependant on the funding allocation for 2004 and subsequent years.
