Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

John Deasy

Question:

534 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress which has been made in granting recognition to Gael Coláiste, St. Augustine's College, Duckspool, Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2159/03]

Consideration of this application by my Department is nearing completion. The advice of An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta agus Gaelscoláiochta was sought in the context of that body's remit to advise on policies relating to the provision and promotion of education through the medium of Irish in recognised schools generally and in schools located in a Gaeltacht area. A response has now been received from an Chomhairle and is being considered by my officials. I understand that a proposal in relation to the application will be submitted shortly.
