652 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will reconsider an application for a medical card in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny which was refused with a view to granting the card on medical grounds. [1317/03]

654 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if, as a matter of urgency, a medical card in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, will be renewed on medical grounds. [1319/03]

655 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if an application for a medical card in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be reconsidered; and if, given the medical circumstances and poor financial situation of this person, the card will be issued immediately. [1320/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 652, and 654 to 655, inclusive, together.

Responsibility for the provision of medical cards in these cases rests with the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer to investigate the matters raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.

653 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a 79 year old person is being asked to pay an amount of ?411 from the department of radiology, Waterford Hospital in view of the fact that this person is a public patient; if this amount will be struck off as it is a source of distress for this old age pensioner. [1318/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services at Waterford Regional Hospital rests with the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer at the board to reply directly to the Deputy in relation to the issue raised.
