Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.

John McGuinness

Question:

660 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason ambulance transport was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow who had to travel to Dublin for a hospital appointment, given the medical circum stances; the reason out-patients like this person should be referred to the Wexford transport section; and the ambulance transport policy in the South Eastern Health Board area. [1326/03]

The South Eastern Health Board is responsible for the provision of ambulance services in its functional area which includes County Carlow. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this matter and to reply to the Deputy directly.
