Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

John McGuinness

Question:

668 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if the occupational therapist's report relative to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny and their application under the DPG scheme gave adequate consideration to this person's medical circumstances (details supplied); if an up to date report will be obtained in view of the report from this person's GP (details supplied); and if the application will be reconsidered in view of this further information. [1334/03]

As the Deputy has been previously informed, the provision of the disabled person's grant to enable housing modifications to be made to the homes of disabled persons is entirely a matter for the Department of the Environment and Local Government and such grants are administered through the relevant local authority. Use of health board staff, i.e. occupational therapists, to provide assessments for this scheme is a matter for discussion between the relevant local authorities and health boards. A copy of the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board for his attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
