689 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if the home help section of the Western Health Board has ceased recruiting staff; if this is the policy of the health board; if it is a new policy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1551/03]

Responsibility for the recruitment of staff rests in this case with the Western Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer to investigate the matters raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
