Michael Ring

Question:

691 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when the last x-ray was taken in Ballina, County Mayo; when the x-ray machine broke down; when this facility will be restored; if the money has been provided for this; if the old machine will be repaired; if not, if a new machine will be provided; when he expects this to occur; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1553/03]

The provision of medical services including the replacement of radiology equipment at Ballina District Hospital is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. Repairs and replacement of equipment is usually carried out by boards from within their annual determination. The board has advised my Department that the x-ray equipment has been broken down since 23 December 2002 and that the board is exploring all possible options for a temporary solution to maintain services.

Question No. 692 answered with Question No. 602.
