Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Digital Terrestrial Television.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

140 Ms Lynch asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the position with regard to the provision of digital terrestrial television; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1815/03]

David Stanton

Question:

543 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the progress which has been made to establish digital television as a key channel for e-government; the Government policy in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1087/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 140 and 543 together.

As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 85 on 19 November 2002, the process of establishing a digital terrestrial television platform in Ireland ended without success following the withdrawal by it's TV of its application for the digital multiplex licence. I am currently considering the options open to me.
