804 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if there are proposals for all vehicles owned by the Garda Síochána to be equipped with external defibrillation equip ment to handle emergencies resulting from persons with sudden cardiac arrest; the possibility of providing all Garda vehicles with such equipment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27174/02]

I am informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources, that there are no proposals to have Garda vehicles equipped with external defibrillation equipment.
