Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Incineration Waste.

John Bruton

Question:

916 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a study has been commissioned from the Health Research Board on the health effects of incineration waste; if so, when this report will be completed and published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1398/03]

The Health Research Board was requested to commission a study to provide an objective analysis of internationally available information regarding the likely effects of landfill and thermal treatment, especially incineration, activities on public health and the environment.

Its study has been completed. The board hopes to be in a position to publish a study report within a relatively short period.
