Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Coast Guard Service.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

158 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the progress which has been made with regard to his Department's consideration of the recent consultants report on the Irish Coast Guard; if it is intended to implement the recommendations made in the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1827/03]

My Department is finalising its consideration of recommendations made following a review by independent consultants of the Irish Coast Guard, and I expect to receive their proposals shortly. My objective is to ensure that coast guard services in the marine environment and in inland areas are efficient and effective and represent value for money in accordance with international best practice.
