Question:201 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Defence if a bereavement grant is payable from his Department in respect of a deceased person (details supplied) who was in receipt of a pension from his Department. [1437/03]

Funeral grants are payable by my Department only in respect of deceased veterans of the War of Independence. The deceased person referred to was not a veteran but was in receipt of an allowance as the widow of a deceased veteran. Consequently, a funeral grant is not payable.
