Question:216 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food his plans to continue with the scheme of investment aid for the development of horticulture; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2500/03]
Written Answers. - Horticulture Sector.
The scheme of investment aid for the development of the commercial horticulture sector is funded under the NDP 2000-06. The scheme assists commercial horticulture producers in the purchase of new specialised equipment and facilities. The rate of aid is 35% of the approved investment and expenditure is funded totally from the national Exchequer. A total of €3.58 million was paid out to 183 applicants in the first round for the period 2001-02. My Department will continue the scheme in 2003. Details of the funding for the second round in 2003 will be published very shortly.
