Vol. 560 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

258 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science if any commitment has been made by or on behalf of the Department to provide a sum in excess of ?200,000 in regard to the refurbishment-extension project at Fews national school, Kilmacthomas, County Waterford (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2329/03]

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. The project at Fews national school is at an early stage of architectural planning and is listed in section 7, primary, of the programme. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include it in the new projects to start construction in 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects that could not be included in this year's programme.
