Vol. 560 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

David Stanton

Question:

285 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science the supports available to families who wish to purchase computers for home use to assist children with specific learning difficulties; if no supports exist, if he will consider introducing such a scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2783/03]

My Department operates a scheme of grants to primary and post-primary schools to facilitate the purchase of special equipment, including computers, for the use of pupils with certain special educational needs. Under the terms of the scheme pupils may, with the consent of the board of management, use such computer equipment at home to assist them in their education.
