Vol. 560 No. 3

Written Answers. - Regional Assemblies Membership.

Tony Gregory

Question:

388 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when regional assemblies select nominations for members and alternates on NDP/CSF committees; if he will recommend that selection should be on a pro rata basis and not based on a simple majority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2317/03]

It is a matter for the regional assemblies to make nominations to the committees referred to in the question. I understand that such nominations have not been made on a strict majority basis. While I do not propose to intervene in the matter, I will bear in mind the issue raised in the question when membership of the regional assemblies is next being reconstituted.

Question No. 389 answered with Question No. 385.
