Vol. 560 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

430 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number by which those on the local authority housing waiting list have been reduced in the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2704/03]

It is estimated that total social housing provision last year, taking account of new local authority housing, vacancies arising in existing houses and output under other social housing measures, met the needs of approximately 12,500 households in all of which some 10,500 households were on local authority waiting lists. While this had a positive impact on waiting lists further new applications for social housing continue to be added to the lists.

Question:

431 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of affordable houses provided by each local authority and occupied within the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2705/03]

Information on activity under the affordable housing schemes for each local authority is published in my Department's annual housing statistics bulletins, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
