Question:

448 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the position regarding a work plan submitted by the Pobail support agency and the Bridge community development project, Newbridge, County Kildare; if funding will be provided by his Department to employ staff to manage the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2723/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 443, 444 and 448 together.

In view of the tighter economic situation this year, it may not be possible to progress the expansion of the community development support programme at the same pace as we have done in previous years. The question therefore of providing core funding to new groups, including the Bridge community development project, will be considered in the context of existing commitments and available resources. I anticipate that decisions relating to the expansion of the programme during 2003 will be made as soon as possible.
