Vol. 560 No. 3

Written Answers. - Legislative Programme.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

159 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the status of the legislation which was promised arising from the report of the Commission on the Private Rented Sector; when the private rented tenancies board will be established on a statutory basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2386/03]

The housing (private rented sector) Bill is included in the Government's legislation programme as one of the Bills expected to be published before the start of the next Dáil session and is currently being drafted. When enacted, the legislation will provide for the establishment of the private residential tenancies board on a statutory basis. The board was set up on an ad-hoc basis in October 2001.
