Written Answers. - Legislative Programme.

Enda Kenny

Question:

195 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Defence his legislative priorities for the remainder of the current Dáil; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2422/03]

David Stanton

Question:

202 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence the legislation and ministerial orders which he intends to introduce during 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2780/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 195 and 202 together.

It is my intention that the Ombudsman (Defence Forces) Bill 2002, which was published in January 2002, will be before the Houses of the Oireachtas before the summer Dáil recess. It is also anticipated that heads of Bill in respect of the new legislation promised for the Curragh of Kildare will be submitted for Government approval before the end of June 2003. With regard to the Civil Defence Act 2002 it is my intention to effect orders in 2003 formally establishing the Civil Defence Board and giving effect to the remaining provisions of the Act.
