Vol. 560 No. 4

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

262 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Transport if pension equity will be resolved prior to any further consideration being given to selling Aer Lingus or Aer Rianta. [2966/03]

Pension entitlements for employees of commercial State bodies, including Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta are matters primarily for the trustees, the members of the relevant scheme and the company involved. I understand that both companies have been meeting all of their liabilities towards the pension fund in accordance with the rules of the scheme.

Question:

263 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Transport the future for implementation of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness increases for Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta staff following the expiry of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness pay freeze on 1 March 2003. [2967/03]

This is a day-to-day operational matter for Aer Lingus in which I have no involvement. I understand from the company that discussions are ongoing with the unions in relation to pay and other issues.
