Vol. 560 No. 4

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Seán Ryan

Question:

293 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his plans to improve the present tenant purchase scheme to make it more affordable for many local authority tenants throughout the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2850/03]

I consider that the terms of the present tenant purchase scheme strike a reasonable balance between the aspirations of existing tenants to own their own homes and the housing needs of those on the local authority waiting lists. While I have no proposals, at this stage, to amend the terms of the current scheme, I am keeping them under continuing review.
