Vol. 560 No. 4

Written Answers. - Waste Disposal.

Paul McGrath

Question:

295 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his plans to instruct the local authorities to give an exemption to primary and secondary schools in the Dublin 15 area, relieving them of charges for waste disposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2883/03]

It is a matter for each local authority, under the Local Government (Financial Provisions) (No. 2) Act 1983, to determine the charges to be levied in relation to the level and costs of services being provided. No function in relation to the matter is assigned to the Minister for the Environment and Local Government.
