Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

134 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Transport his plans for the development of Kent railway station in Cork; and the position in relation to such proposals. [2768/03]

Iarnród Éireann has informed me that it is currently in the process of freeing up land for development within the operational freight yard at Horgan's quay adjacent to Kent Station. Following discussions with Cork City Council broad parameters for the development of the site have now been identified and Iarnród Éireann expect development on the site to proceed in the near future. This redevelopment will include a new passenger concourse on the southside of the station with bus and taxi interchange facilities.
