Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Seamus Healy

Question:

234 Mr. Healy asked the Minister for Finance when he intends to announce the decentralisation of Government Departments to Carrick-on-Suir and Tipperary town; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3540/03]

The Government is committed to moving forward the progressive decentralisation of Government offices and agencies taking into account the national spatial strategy. As I have previously said on many occasions, there is a wide range of important issues that must be taken into consideration and it is not possible for me to state at this time when the Government will be in a position to take a decision on the issue of decentralisation. However, all of the numerous submissions and cases made to my Department, including that received from and on behalf of Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, and Tipperary town, will be given full consideration in these deliberations.
