Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

251 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Education and Science when a resource teacher will be made available for Clonkeen national school, Killarney; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3194/03]

The school in question has the services of a shared resource teacher post. The school recently requested an additional 2.5 hours resource teaching support for a special needs pupil attending the school. This support has been sanctioned by my Department in recent days.

Dan Neville

Question:

252 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Education and Science if a school bus service will be provided for Adare and Kildimo, County Limerick, to Villiers School, Limerick. [3203/03]

As there is no post-primary school in Adare, pupils from that area mainly attend schools in Limerick City, including the Villiers school. There are two contractors' buses and a scheduled service operating from Adare to Limerick City to accommodate these pupils.

School bus services from Adare do not operate to any specific post-primary school in Limerick as travel entitlement is to Limerick centre. From the centre pupils may avail of scheduled city bus services and auxiliaries to those services to individual schools, including Villiers post-primary school, on payment of the school child fare. There are no plans at present to establish a school bus service from Adare directly to Villiers.

The transport liaision officer at City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee has been requested to report on school transport services available from Kildimo to Limerick centre. When this report is received you will be advised of the position.
