Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - Afforestation Programme.

Michael Ring

Question:

307 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the position regarding the forestry scheme; if it is still going ahead; if people will still be paid their forestry premia for existing plantations; if funding has been put in place to ensure the continuance of this scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3210/03]

Dan Neville

Question:

309 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the reason the afforestation Estimate has been cut by 40% when the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources Estimate is cut by 13%; and if since the latter cut was made, a planting programme of 15 hectares will be introduced in 2003. [3291/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 307 and 309 together.

I refer the Deputies to my reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 121 and 577 of 29 January 2003. I want to assure the Deputies that forestry premia will continue to be paid to beneficiaries.
