Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

Dan Neville

Question:

327 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children when incontinence pads will be supplied to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who is covered with a medical card and is currently in a nursing home. [3204/03]

My Department is in ongoing contact with the ERHA and the health boards in relation to the issue raised by the Deputy and I am confident that difficulties which have arisen in that particular area can be resolved soon. I also wish to advise the Deputy that, in considering the priorities for funding from the financial allocation made available this year by my Department for services for older people, the Mid-Western Health Board decided to allocate a portion of that funding for the supply of incontinence wear to medical card patients in private nursing homes. As responsibility for the administration of nursing homes in Limerick rests with the Mid-Western Health Board, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the individual case raised by the Deputy and reply direct to him.
