Ruairí Quinn

Question:

335 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on whether it is acceptable for a person (details supplied) to be told they cannot get an appointment to see a consultant until 3 December 2003 in order to get on a list to get on an operation list to have a knee replacement and that due to the delay the health board has to provide physiotherapy and a lift on the stairs in order to facilitate the person within their home; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3265/03]

Services for eligible patients at St. Vincent's University Hospital are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
