Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

425 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children when the community hospital at the Harbour, Maynooth, County Kildare, is likely to be fully operational; if the requisite staff have been appointed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3758/03]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in County Kildare rests with the South-Western Area Health Board operating under the aegis of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I am informed by the authority that the community unit at Maynooth is being opened on a phased basis. There are currently 20 beds in operation. Following a recent recruitment competition, staff have been selected and offers of employment have been made. The remaining beds will be commissioned as these staff commence duty.
