481 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has considered adopting a national list voting system for the election of Irish members of the European Parliament; and his views on whether it is desirable to have a standard or similar election system in all member states. I have no proposals to change the current electoral system for European Parliament elections.

482 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his terms of reference for the revision of European Parliament constituency boundaries will state that constituencies must comprise of three, four or five seats. [3174/03]

The terms of reference for the review of the European Parliament constituencies are set out in section 6 of the Electoral Act 1997. They include a requirement that each constituency shall return three, four or five members.
